School-Based ABA Therapy

School-based ABA therapy can be delivered within the classroom or any other area within the school in which the student is experiencing difficulty. These services can be requested by the parent, Special Education Teacher, or the IEP team.

Should this be a potential option for your family, a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) would need to do a site visit to conduct a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA). The results from that assessment would then be summarized to develop an individualized Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP).

The Behavior Intervention Plan needs to be implemented for a length of time while data is collected to determine if the new interventions are successful. In the meantime, the student obtains individualized supports from their BCBA, Teacher, ABA Therapist, and Paraprofessional – All of which have been trained on the specific plan that has been put in place.
